(January 20, 2022) – Gearing up for a massive new year, two-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated multiplatinum songwriter, producer, and author Kelsea Ballerini parlays the energy and success of a banner 2021 into what promises to be an even brighter 2022. Along the way, she has quietly emerged as one of the most impactful artists in country music and popular culture at large.
Indicative of her impact, she notably closed out 2021 as the “#3 most-played female artist on country radio.” She notched her first two CMA Awards, taking home “Musical Event of the Year” and “Video of the Year” for “half of my hometown” with Kenny Chesney. Reaching many milestones, CMT crowned her “Artist of the Year,” and she appeared as a guest judge on The Voice. She graced the cover of Shape who christened her “a phenomenon in her own right.” Returning to the road, she performed in sold-out arenas and amphitheaters coast-to-coast as direct support to Jonas Brothers on The Remember This Tour. Not to mention, she picked up four RIAA certifications, bringing her total to 25 overall. Among those, her sixth #1 “hole in the bottle” with Shania Twain earned a platinum certification, while “half of my hometown,” her acclaimed kelsea album, and 2021 single “I QUIT DRINKING” with LANY all went gold. The latter just eclipsed 100 million streams and reached the Top 20 at Hot AC as well. Plus, her cumulative stream tally just surpassed 3 billion and counting.
Additionally, she continues to garner unanimous tastemaker praise. When she teamed up with Chesney for a duet of “half of my hometown” at the 2021 ACM Awards, People raved, “What a lovely performance,” and described it as “soulful.” Examining the “strength of her artistry and songcraft” on kelsea and its companion album ballerini, The New York Times claimed, “Ballerini’s best songs often interrogate a private, particularly feminine space between image and reality.” Rolling Stone hailed kelsea as “cleverly crafted and deftly executed.” Of the latter, The FADER attested, “if you’ve been yearning for something comforting and entirely earnest, this is your ticket.” E! proclaimed, “Kelsea Ballerini’s Most Honest Confessions Prove She’s a Relatable Queen.”
She also made her literary debut with an original book of poetry entitled Feel Your Way Through. Available at retailers and online now, the book is published as a Ballantine Hardcover by Ballantine—an imprint of Random House. The collection is available HERE. Feel Your Way Through climbed the bestsellers charts and has reached Top 50 overall on Amazon. Diving into the text, she sat down with Associated Press for an in-depth interview.
Joining forces with another legend, she co-stars in the audiobook of Dolly Parton’s novel, Run, Rose, Run, co-written with best-selling author James Patterson. Arriving March 7, 2022, Kelsea takes on the role of protagonist AnnieLee Keyes.
